Katerkamp, Johann Theodor Hermann
Katerkamp, Johann Theodor Hermann, an eminent Roman Catholic theologian, was born at Ochtrup, near Munster, Germany, Jan. 17, 1764; studied theology at Munster, and subsequently (1809) became professor of Church History in his alma mater. He had been ordained priest in 1787, and in 1823 he was appointed canon, and in 1831 dean of the cathedral at Munster. He died July 8, 1834. Katerkamp's principal work is his Kirchengesch. (of which the introduction' was published in 1819; and five volumes, bringing the work down to the second Crusade, from 1823-34, 8vo). He also wrote Ueber d. christl. Leben u. d. Geist d. gottesdienstl. Versammlungen (Munster, 1830, 8vo):- Denkwurdigkeiten aus d. Leben d.Furstin Galiczin (ibid. 1828; 2d ed. 1838).
