Hoeschelius, David

Hoeschelius, David an eminent Greek scholar, born at Augsburg in 1556, was professor at St. Anne's College, and, later, the librarian of his native city. He died Oct. 30, 1617. He deserves a notice here on account of his valuable editions of some of the Greek fathers, and of a number of Greek authors who have written in the department of Christian antiquity and ecclesiastical history. — Bayle, Hist.
