Hodamo

Hodamo the priest of the inhabitants of the island of Socotra, in the Indian Ocean, off the eastern coast of Africa, who worshipped the moon, for which purpose they had temples called Moquamos. The hodamo was chosen annually, and presented with a staff and a cross as the emblems of his office.
