Correa, Manoel (1)
a Portuguese Jesuit, was born in 1636 in St. Paul de Loanda, in the African colony of Angola. He went to Lisbon and entered the Jesuit order May 31, 1651; afterwards taught at the University of Evora, received the degree of doctor in 1685, and became rector of the University of Coimbra. Being called to Rome, he was there promoted to the dignity of provincial, appointed assistant of P. Tyrso Gonzales, and died in 1708, leaving Idea Consilarii (Rome, 1712). See Hoefer, Nouv. Biog.
