Conceicam, Appolinario Da
Conceicam, Appolinario da an ecclesiastical writer of Portugal, was born at Lisbon, July 25, 1692. He was but thirteen years of age when he went to Brazil, joined the Franciscans as a lay brother, September 3, 1711, and was finally taken into the employ of the general of the order. He was appointed chronicler of the Franciscans in 1740, and died, probably at Rio de Janeiro, about 1750, leaving a large number of works, especially, Pequenos na Terra Grandes no ceo Memorias Historicas dos Religiosos da Ordem Sersaica, etc. (Lisboni, 1732-38): — Claustro Franciscano Erecto no Dominio da Coroa Portugueza, etc. (ibid. 1740).
