Williamson, Samuel, D.D.
a Presbyterian minister, was born in York District, S.C., June 12, 1795. He graduated from South Carolina College in 1818, and studied theology under Reverend James Adams; became pastor at Providence in 1822, professor in Davidson College in 1840, its president from 1841 to 1854, and pastor at Washington and Columbus, Arkansas, from 1857 to 1876.
