Ward, John, LL.D.
an English Baptist educator, was born in London in 1679, his father being a Baptist minister. He possessed learning of the highest order, and loved the acquisition of knowledge with an intense affection. He was elected professor of rhetoric in Gresham College in 1720, and died in 1758. Among the productions of his pen were, The Lives of the Gresham Professors: — The Westminster Greek Grammar. He assisted Horsley in his Britannia Romana, and Ainsworth in his Dictionary.
