Townson (or Tonson), Robert, D.D.
a divine of the 17th century, was born in St. Botolph's Parish, Cambridge, became fellow of Queen's College, being admitted therein when but twelve years of age. He was an excellent preacher, attended king James as chaplain into Scotland, became dean of Westminster in 1617, bishop of Salisbury in 1620, and died May 15, 1621.
