Syr'ian (אֲרִמַּי, Arummi, Ge 25:20; Ge 28:5; Ge 31:20,24; De 26:5; 2Ki 5; 2Ki 20; fem. אֲרִמַּיּה, Arammiydh, 1Ch 7:14, "Aramitess;" plur. masc. אֲרִמַּי, Arammim, 2Ki 8:28-29; 2Ki 16:6 [where the text has ארומים, which the marg. corrects to אֲרוֹמַי, Edomites]; 2Ch 22:5; but "Syrians" is elsewhere the rendering of אֲרִם, Aranz; Σύρος, [Lu 4:27), an inhabitant either of Western Syria, i.e. on the Mediterranean (2Ki 5; 2Ki 20), or of Eastern, i.e. Mesopotamia (Genesis loc. cit.).
