Stewart, Isaac Ingersoll

Stewart, Isaac Ingersoll, a minister of the Methodist Episcopal Church, was born near Absecom, N.J., Aug. 4, 1806. When twelve years of age he removed to Illinois, and three years later joined the Church. H e was licensed to preach in 1836, and in the same year entered the Illinois Conference. In 1857 he took a supernumerary relation; in 1858 he became effective; in 1862 supernumerary. In 1863 he was appointed chaplain to the United States Hospital. Keokuk, Ia., where he died; Aug. 15, 1864. See Minutes of Annual Conferences, 1864, p. 178.
