Smith, Charles Mouzon

Smith, Charles Mouzon, a minister of the Methodist Episcopal Church, South, was born June 28, 1841, and joined the Church when he was sixteen. He was licensed to preach in 1859, and the same year entered the Georgia Conference. In 1862, because of the absence of his senior preacher, a chaplain in the Southern army, he was overtaxed, and was taken with a violent hemorrhage of the lungs. From this he never recovered. He was made a superannuate in, 1862, and died Oct. 9, 1863. See Minutes of Annual Conferences of the M.E. Church, South, 1863, p. 454.
