Shore
Shore is the rendering in the A.V. of three Heb. and two Greek words.
1. חוֹŠ, choph (so called from being chafed by the waves [Gesen.], or enclosed [Furst]; comp. Engl. cove, and the modern town Chaifa), a roadstead (Jg 5:17; Jer 47:7; "coast" in Jos 9:1; Eze 25:10; "haven" in Ge 49:13; "side" in De 1:7); αἰγιαλός, a beach (Mt 13:2,48; Joh 21:4; Ac 21:5; Ac 27:39-40).
2. קָצֶה, katseh, the extremity of the land (Jos 15:2; elsewhere "brim," "brink," etc.).
⇒Bible concordance for SHOMER.
3. שָׂפָה, saphah, a lip (as often, sometimes "brink," "bank," etc.); χεῖλος, the lip (as usually, "shore" only in Heb 11:12). SEE SEA.
