Schmid, Joseph Anton

Schmid, Joseph Anton a Roman Catholic theologian of Germany, was born in 1827 at Heideck, Upper Palatinate. He received holy orders in 1851, was in 1853 professor of Hebrew and exegesis at the episcopal lyceum in Eichstatt, in 1868 professor of Church history and dogmatics at Bamberg, and died March 9, 1881, at Munich, doctor of theology. He published, Comnmentar zum Buch der Weisheit (Vienna, 1858): Kirche und Bibel (1862). (B.P.)
