Schian, Johann Robert
Schian, Johann Robert a German Protestant divine, was born Oct. 31, 1828, in Loewen. In 1852 he completed his theological studies at Breslau, was appointed deacon at Liegnitz in 1858, and afterwards first deacon in the same place, where he died, Jan. 16, 1876. He was one of the most prominent ministers in Silesia; and, besides a number of sermons, he wrote, Ratio quoe intercesserit inter Melanchthonem et Lutherum explicatur et quid attribuerit ad Ecclesiam Evangelicam constituendam exponitur (Gottingae, 1855).
