Savigni, Order of

Savigni, Order Of a religious body connected with the Romish Church, founded in the 12th century by Vitalis de Mortain, a disciple of the famous Robert of Arbiscelle, who instituted the Order of Fontevraud. The Order of Savigni, after continuing for a time, became merged in that of the Cistercians (q.v.).
