Rotheram (or Rotherham), John

Rotheram (Or Rotherham), John, an English divine, was born in Cumberland, and was educated at Queen's College, Oxford. He became fellow of University College, Oxford, rector of Houghton-le-Spring, and in 1769 vicar of Seaham. Rotheram died in 1788. Among his published works are, Sketch of the One Great Argument for the Truth of Christianity (Oxford, 175254, 8vo): — Force of the Argument for the Truth of Christianity from Prophecy (2d ed. 1753, 8vo): — Origin of Faith (1761, 8vo): — Apology for the Athanasian Creed (Lond. 1762, 2 vols. 8vo): — On Faith (1766-68, 8vo) — besides Sermons and Essays.
