Robinson, John (2)
Robinson, John (2), bishop of London, was born at Cleasby,Yorkshire, in 1650, and was educated at Oriel College, Oxford. He was chaplain to the English ambassador to Sweden in 1683, and subsequently ambassador there himself. He returned to England in 1708, in 1710 became bishop of Bristol, and in 1714 was transferred to London. He was minister plenipotentiary at the Treaty of Utrecht, and one of the commissioners for finishing St. Paul's Cathedral. He died in 1723.
