Prayer of Consecration

Prayer of Consecration is offered in the communion service for the elements served to the people as memorials of Christ's crucifixion. In the Church of Rome and other ritualistic bodies, this prayer is accompanied with much ceremony. In other Christia:n churches the form prescribed or adopted is in harmony with the grave occasion which it commemorates. SEE LORD'S SUPPER. Prayer- days. There can be no doubt that the service in the Book of Common Prayer is intended to be daily; yet in the United States this practice has never come to prevail. As a substitute for this, and the nearest approximation the times will allow to the original usage, certain days of the week are selected on which morning and evening service is publicly held.
