Piazza, Prancesco

Piazza, Prancesco an Italian theologian, was born in Bologna near the beginning of the 15th century. In 1424 he took the dress of the Dominicans. and distinguished himself by his skill in the science of canon law. He died at Bologna December 17, 1460. His treatise De restitutionibus, usuris et excommunicationibus (Cremona, 1472, fol.) has been several times reprinted. Another, composed by him, De actu matrimonial, which contains singular opinions, is preserved in manuscript at Leipsic. — Hoefer, Nouv. Biog. Generale, 40:35.
