Pauperes Christi
Pauperes Christi (i.e. The Poor of Christ), a Roman Catholic order which arose in the 12th century, formed by a zealous ecclesiastic named Robert of Arbriscelles, on whom pope Urban II had conferred the dignity of apostolic preacher. The society was composed of persons of both sexes, and of ecclesiastics and laymen, who wished to learn the way of spiritual living under the direction of the founder of the order.
