Pambœotia a festival celebrated by all the inhabitants of Boeotia that they might engage in the worship of Athene Itonia. While this national festival lasted it was unlawful to carry on war; and accordingly, if it occurred in the course of a war, hostilities were forthwith interrupted by the proclamation of truce between the contending parties.
