Overton, Samuel

Overton, Samuel an English minister of the Society of Friends, was born in the county of Warwick in 1668. He entered the ministry in 1694, and labored therein forty-three years. He is noted as one of the first of those concerned in establishing meetings for Church discipline in Warwickshire. He died July 23, 1737. See Janney, Hist. of the Friends, 3:225.
