Oikoi Basileioi
Oikoi Basileioi (οϊvκοι βασίλειοι, royal houses), a term applied in the early Church to the houses allotted to the bishops and clergy for their residences, corresponding, therefore, in a large measure to our parsonage (q.v.). The οϊvκοι βασίλειοι were always adjacent to the church.
