Nott, John, D.D.

a Presbyterian minister, was born at Albany, N.Y., December 14, 1801. He graduated from Union College in 1823. In the autumn of the same year he entered Andover Theological Seminary, where he studied until June 1825. He then entered Princeton Seminary, June 30, and studied there until September, 1826. He was licensed by the Presbytery of Albany, May 3, 1827, and ordained as an evangelist the same month. He was tutor in Union College from 1830 to 1839, and was assistant professor of rhetoric in the same institution for fifteen years. From 1839 to 1841 he was stated supply to the Church at Rotterdam, N.Y. Thence he went to the South as stated supply of the churches of Goldsboro and Everittsville, in North Carolina. Returning to the North, he became supply of the Dutch Reformed Church at Aurisville, Montgomery County, N.Y. He died at Fonda, May 13, 1878. See Necrol. Report of Princeton Theol.
