Miller, James

Miller, James a Presbyterian minister. was born near New Milns, Ayrshire, Scotland, February 4, 1803. He was educated at Glasgow College, Scotland; studied divinity in the theological seminary at Glasgow, and was licensed by Kilmarnock Presbytery of the United Secession Church. Soon after he came to the United States; was ordained in 1841 by the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church of Ohio as pastor over the Church in Perrysburg and Scotch Ridge, Wood County, Ohio; subsequently removed to Iowa, preaching as opportunity offered, and died January 26, 1867. Mr. Miller was a successful and useful minister, and did much to advance the cause of truth. See Wilson, Presb. Hist. Almanac, 1868, page 274.
