Meurer, Moritz
Meurer, Moritz a Lutheran theologian of Germany, was born August 3, 1806, at Pretzsch, on the Elbe. He studied at Leipsic, was in 1833 teacher at the seminary in Weissenfels, in 1834 deacon at Waldenburg, in 1835 archdeacon, and in 1841 pastor. He died at Callenberg, May 10, 1877. He is the author of biographical sketches on Luther, Catharine von Bora, Melanchthon, Bugenhagen, Myconius, etc. Besides, he published, Moses, der Knecht Gottes (Waldenburg, 1836): — Der Tag zu Schmalkalden (Leipsic, 1837); Der Kirchenbau vom Standpunkte und nach dem Brauche der lutherischen Kirche (ibid. 1877).
