Menachem Ben-salomo
Menachem Ben-Salomo
of France, a rabbi who lived in the 12th century, is the author of אֶבֶן בֹחֵן, a dictionary of the Hebrew language, written about 1143. Specimens of this lexicon were published by Dukes in קבוֹ על יד (Esslingen, 1846). He also wrote a commentary on the Pentateuch, entitled שכל טוב, a specimen of which, under the title תוכחת מגלה, was published at Hamburg in 1784 (in a Latin translation by Delitzsch, in his Jeshurun sive Isagoge [Grimmna. 1838], pages 184-188).
