Maxwell, Robert a Scotch prelate, was rector of Forbolton in 1521, and soon after provost of the collegiate church in Dumbarton. He was bishop of Orkney till after 1536. He built the stalls in his cathedral, and furnished the steeple with a set of bells. See Keith, Scottish Bishops, page 223.
