Masson, John (2)

Masson, John an English Congregational minister, was born at Aberdeen, Scotland, October 29, 1806. His education was received in King's College, Aberdeen, and Homerton College, London. In 1834 he began his labors as a minister of the Gospel, and served successively Harray in Orkney, Brechin, Letham, and Dundee, retiring in 1878. In 1876 he was chairman of the Congregational Union of Scotland, and from 1868 to 1870 one of the secretaries of the Ministers' Provident Fund. He was also, for a time, editor of the Scottish Congregational Magazine, and also of the publications of the Scottish Temperance League. He died February 20, 1893. See (Lond.) Cong.
