Litta, Lorenzo
Litta, Lorenzo a learned Italian prelate, was born at Milan, February 23, 1756. After studying at the Clementine College; in Rome, he was appointed apostolical prothonotary in 1782, in 1793 became archbishop in partibus of Thebes, and the year following departed for Poland as nuncio. In 1797 he went in the same capacity to Russia. He died May 1, 1820, leaving Lettres Diverses, etc. (Paris, 1809). See Hoefer, Nouv. Biog. Generale, s.v.
