Lampillas, Francis Xavier
Lampillas, Francis Xavier, a Spanish Jesuit, was born in Catalonia in 1731. After the expulsion of the Jesuits from Spain in 1767 he went to Genoa, where he died in 1810. His principal work is a defense of Spanish literature against Bettinelli and Tiraboschi, Saggio storico-apologetico della Leteratura Spagnuola. See Hoefer, Nouv. Biog. Generale, 29:285.
