Lakernacher, Johann Gottfried
Lakernacher, Johann Gottfried a German theologian and Orientalist, was born at Osterwyck, near Halberstadt, Nov. 17,1695, and was educated at the universities of Helmstadt and Halle. In 1724 he was appointed professor of Greek, and in 1727 of Oriental literature at Halle. He died March 16,1736. His works are, Elementa linguce Arabicce (Helmst. 1718, 4to), a work which has been highly commended for its intrinsic value as an introduction to the study of the Arabic language: -Observationes philologicae, quibus varia praecipue S.
