Lagarto, Pedro

Lagarto, Pedro a Portuguese prelate and theologian, was born at Setubal about 1524. In 1540 he joined the monks of Arrabida, who lived under the rule of St. Francis; afterwards studied theology at Salamanca, and was elected in 1576 provincial of Arrabida. He died July 28, 1590, leaving Summa Utilis Omnium Notabilium. See Hoefer, Nouv. Biog. Generale, s.v.
