Kennedy, John an English divine, who flourished about the middle of the 18th century (he died about 1770), rector of Bradley, Derbyshire, is noted for his works on Scripture chronology, of which the following are best known: Complete System of Astronomical Chronology unfolding the Scriptures (London, 1762, 4to): this work Kennedy dedicated to the king, and the dedication was composed by Dr. Samuel Johnson : — Explanation and Proof of ditto (1774, 8vo), addressed to James Ferguson.-Allibone, Dictionary of English and American Authors, vol. ii, s.v.
