John, a Metropolitan of Kiew

John, A Metropolitan Of Kiew was raised to that dignity in 1164 by the patriarch of Constantinople, Lucas Chrysoberges. He is famous for his letter to pope Alexander III, of which a rare book entitled Kirilovoi (Moscow, 1644) gives some extracts. John died May 12, 1166. See Hoefer, Nouv. Biog. Generale, s.v.
