Jenny, Robert, LL.D.

a Protestant Episcopal clergyman, son of archdeacon Jenny of Waneytown, in the north of Ireland, arrived in America in 1715, as a missionary of the Society for Propagating the Gospel, having been appointed assistant to the Reverend William Vesey, rector of Trinity Church, New York city. In 1722 he was transferred to Rye, and remained there until 1728, when he assumed charge of the church in Hempstead, L.I. In November 1742, by license of the bishop of London, he became rector of Christ Church, Philadelphia, which post he held until the close of his life. His ministry covered fifty-two years.
