Jard, Francois
Jard, Francois a very celebrated French Jansenist preacher, born at Bollene, near Avignon, March 3, 1675, was one of the appellants against the bull Unigenitus. He died April 10, 1768. Besides his sermons, he published La religion Chretienne miditie dans le veritable esprit de ses maximes (Paris, 1743, 1763, 6 vols. 12mo; new ed. Lyons, 1819, 6 vols. 12mo). See Hoefer, Nouv. Biog.
