Itogay

Itogay a household god among the Mongol Tartars. He is the guardian of their families, and presides over all the products of the earth. The Tartar does not presume to dine until this god and his family have been first served, by covering the mouths of the idols with grease. When the people have dined they throw out the fragments, expecting them to be devoured by some unknown spirits.
