Hopkins, William, 2

A Church of England clergyman, but an Arian in theology, was born at Monmouth in 1706. He entered All Souls College, Oxford, in 1724, and became vicar of Bolney, Sussex, in 1731. In 1756 he became master of the grammar school of Cuckfield, and died in 1786. His principal works are An Appeal to the Common Sense of all Christian People on the doctrine of the Trinity (London 1754,12mo) — Exodus, A Correct Translation, with Notes critical and explanatory (London 1784, 4to).
