Hebard, Elijah

Hebard, Elijah a Methodist Episcopal minister. He was born at Coxsackie, N. Y., Sept. 8,1788; was converted at thirteen; entered the New York Conference in May, 1811; in 1819 was appointed to New Haven; in 1820 and 21 to New York; in 1834 was transferred to Genesee Conference, and stationed at Rochester; was presiding elder on Ontario District in 1837-40; in 1846 he superannuated; and died at Geneva, N. Y., Jan. 25, 1858. He was a diligent student, a sound theologian, and a good scholar in Greek and Hebrew. — Minutes of Conferences, 7, 205.
