Hare, Augustus William
Hare, Augustus William (brother of Julius Charles, see below), was born in 1794, graduated at Oxford, became fellow of New College, and in 1829 rector of Alton Barnes, Wiltshire. In conjunction with his brother, he wrote Guesses at Truth (3rd ed. Lond. 1847, 2 vols. 18mo). He also published Sermons to a Country Congregation (London, 4th ed. 1839, 7th ed. 1851; New York, 1839, 8vo), which are models of clear and practical discourse from the pulpit. He died in 1834 at Rome.
