Hancock, Thomas
Hancock, Thomas a patron of Harvard College. He left most of his property to his nephew, governor Hancock, but yet bequeathed £1000 for the foundation of a professorship of the Hebrew and other Oriental languages at Harvard;
£1000 to the Society for propagating the Gospel among the Indians, and £600 to the town of Boston for the establishment of a hospital for the insane. He died at Boston August 1, 1764. — Ann. Register, 1764.
