Greuze, Jean Baptiste
Greuze, Jean Baptiste an eminent French painter, was born at Tournus (Burgundy) in 1726, and studied under Grandon. He went to Paris, and produced his celebrated picture of The Father Explaining the Scriptures to his Children, which at once established his reputation.
