Grate
Grate (מִכבָּר, mikbar', something twined, from כָּבִר, to braid; Sept. ἐσχάρα), a network of brass for the bottom of the great altar of sacrifice (Ex 27:4; Ex 35:16; Ex 38:4-5,30; Ex 39:39), placed horizontally in the fire-bed so as to allow the cinders, ashes, etc. to pass through, and a draught of air to sup ply the fire upon it.
