Grant, Sir Robert
Grant, Sir Robert an English poet, was born in 1795, graduated from Cambridge in 1806, studied law, entered Parliament in 1826, became governor of Bombay in 1834, and died at Dapoorie, India, July 9, 1838. Besides some volumes on India, he wrote twelve sacred lyrics, which were published by his brother, lord Glenelg, under the title of Sacred Poems (1839), and are so excellent that several of them appear in most modern hymnals.
