Gorran, Nicolas De

Gorran, Nicolas De a French theologian, was born probably in 1230. After having begun his studies with the preaching friars of Le Mans, he went to the college of Saint Jacob, at Paris; became immediately afterwards one of the lecturers of the college, and, having gained some reputation in the pulpit, was appointed confessor to the king of Navarre, son of Phillippe the Bold. Gorran died in 1295. He wrote some commentaries or postils on the Holy Scriptures, and sermons, a few only of which were published. See Hoefer, Nouv. Biog. Generale, s.v.
