Goffine, Leonard

Goffine, Leonard, a Roman Catholic priest, was born at Cologne in 1648, joined in 1669 the order of the Premonstratenses in the abbey of Steinfeld, labored many years as a priest at Obernstein and Coerfeld in Westphalia, and died August 11, 1719. He is the author of a devotional work (Christkathol. Unterrichts und Erbauungsbuch) which has passed through a very large number of editions and is still in common suse. There are new revised editions of the eMork by Steck (Tübingen, 9th ed. 1869), and by Diez (2 volumes, Wurzburg, 1864). (A.J.S.)
