Gleason, Anson

Gleason, Anson a noted Congregational minister, often designated as "father Gleason," was born at Malnchester, Connecticut, May 2, 1797. He was a missionary to various tribes of Indians from 1823 to 1835, in which. latter year he was ordained, general missionary from 1848 to 1851, then again to the Indians until 1861, and thereafter city missionary successively in Rochester, Utica, and Brooklyn, until his death, February 24, 1885.
