Gahan, William, D.D.

an eminent Roman Catholic divine, was born in Dublin, Ireland, June 5, 1732. On September 18, 1749, he joined the hermits of St. Augustine in Dublin, and the year after was sent to the convent of the order at Louvain, to complete his ecclesiastical studies at the university. Here he was promoted to the priesthood, May 25, 1755. He returned to Ireland and was made curate of the Church of St. Paul, Dublin, where he was in labors abundant. He died there, December 6, 1804.
