French, John W., D.D.
a Protestant Episcopal clergyman of the diocese of Maryland, graduated from the General Theological Seminary of New York, was for some years rector in Washington, D.C.; in 1857 was chaplain at the Military Academy, West Point, N.Y.; in 1866 was appointed professor of moral philosophy in the same institution, and continued there until his death, July 7, 1871.
